my pom.xml:

<dependency>     <groupid>junit</groupid>     <artifactid>junit</artifactid>     <version>3.8.1</version>     <scope>test</scope> </dependency>  <dependency>     <groupid>javax.servlet</groupid>     <artifactid>javax.servlet-api</artifactid>     <version>3.1.0</version>     <scope>provided</scope> </dependency>  <dependency>     <groupid>org.richfaces.ui</groupid>     <artifactid>richfaces-components-ui</artifactid>     <version>4.3.7.final</version> </dependency>  <dependency>     <groupid>org.richfaces.core</groupid>     <artifactid>richfaces-core-impl</artifactid>     <version>4.3.7.final</version> </dependency>

also web.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <web-app xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/xmlschema-instance"     xsi:schemalocation="http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/javaee"      xmlns:web="http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_3_1.xsd"     version="3.1" xmlns="http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/javaee">      <display-name>archetype created web application</display-name>      <context-param>         <param-name>javax.faces.default_suffix</param-name>         <param-value>.xhtml</param-value>     </context-param>     <servlet>         <servlet-name>faces servlet</servlet-name>         <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.facesservlet</servlet-class>         <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>     </servlet>      <servlet-mapping>         <servlet-name>faces servlet</servlet-name>         <url-pattern>*.xhtml</url-pattern>     </servlet-mapping> </web-app>

according this jsf 2.2.7 culprit. can either downgrade jsf 2.2.6 or update richfaces 4.5.
